Thanks, I was really happy with it and surprised how symmetrical it was. I wasn't really going for a tail, the opposite in fact, I find them distracting. There was no coarse charcoal in the RP, I only used willow air float, it was also ball milled for 30 mins. pyropro
what I use to do is use a charcoal comp for delay so after the tail burned as in the motor then it went dark for a second or two so it wouldnt take away from the shell.Extra work but as you go on youll find youll do all kinds of things to try Edited October 28, 2016 by pyropro

Pyrophury
Some excellent rockets there Pyrophury. Thanks! But I was a bit disappointed with them, the breaks weren't that great and a lot of stars were blind. Hardly any of the Bleser blonde streamer to green lit at all which was surprising, lots of dark patches in the red/green peony, possibly because of the 10x10mm cylindrical stars I placed in amongst the burst charge. Pyrophury
This was my attempt at a smiley face pattern shell. http://www.pyrobin.com/files/smiley%201.jpg The 7mm stars were hot glued on to the 1mm thick cardboard template. http://www.pyrobin.com/files/smiley%202.jpg Both hemis were filled with MCRH with no additional booster, then wrapped with 8 layers of gummed tape. I'm not sure why there was so much delay, I've used the same passfire technique dozens of times without any problems... I think the rocket was on it's way down which is why it was upside down. The break was poor, more layers or booster needed.
NeighborJ
Nice, it still worked. I never tried shapes before, just rings. I'd call that a success.
