Hi all,

As you all are aware kno3 burns by itself (with abit of help, IE saw dust) a whitey purple colour I'm small or large amounts, yes

But a couple days back I had made some D1 glitter cut stars for a shell I was going to shoot at the beach along with others constructed the same way, but as the shell burst with some failed( experimental lift) the glitter some what failed if you will leaving only a a few sparks but buring a dim purple colour but was not that bright but was enough colour and brightness to over power the TT but left a nice effect? If any one could explain, an or also point out any faults I have missed In constructing of the shell, also I have followed all the steps and have done plenty of trial and error but this one time this has happened all of my shells have done this on the beach

BNP,

You might have had an adverse reaction with the D1 glitter. This tends to kill the tail, and just make it burn differently. This might happen if you tried to force dry them with heat, have some contaminated chemicals, or left them wet too long.

Very interesting, I noticed they dried very quickly as the TT took only two days to dry fully in room temperature as I did a few test stars and they burnt very nicely but the d1 burnt very nice with plenty of glimmer and I had them drying on a tray together and could it also be the wetting solution used ? As I have been experimenting with metholated spirits and have had nothing but success ? Also they were cut on seperate tiles with baking paper and the prime consisted of a 75/15/10 mixture ? Thanks

My Kno3 also burned the exact way you describe Dimmed purple, or pink, when I made a nishiki kamuro replaced Ti with Al, but the only difference is that the stars left some glitter for a while and after that turned into that color
