schroedinger
Wrap it with tape when needed. I git 3mm visco too, nc is very thin, when trying fk coat it i had just problems with migration into the core. Since waterproof is nearly never needed i just install it when it can be kept straight. So for cakes tape the fuse to the outside, for shells fold the quickmatch a little longer then the visco and tape all together or just prepare vusco sticks and fix them to the qm at the shoot site. For bees, rockets tape them to the casing or stick. This way you also help the 2nd and bigger problem. Thin coated visco likes to lose the powder core at bend spots.
OblivionFall
Be careful. Some Czech guy blew his hand off with a flash powder quarter stick when he coated his fuse with NC Laquer instead of just spraying a little bit of it on and it turned into quickmatch. I can send you the video if you want Test your fuse Edited July 26, 2015 by OblivionFall
insutama
What does wrapping it in tape do ? Make it waterproof ?
schroedinger
1st it strenghtens the fuse against bending. 2nd it keeps water outside.
insutama
ah i c what kind of tape do you use ?
schroedinger
A good quality masking tape works very good. (Do not use the cheap stuff, that barly sticks). For real waterproofing use aluminium tape. Also do some experimenting, that your fuse is ok with it and doesn'f become quick match (normall visco shouldn't do that).

Ace Hardware (Hardware store chain in the US) carries a house brand, clear lacquer in spray cans. It's nearly pure NC. Spray your Visco with a light coat, twice with about 10 minutes drying time between coats. Above all, test, test, test!. (safety first) I sprayed some four-ply black match as described above, lit it and dropped it in a puddle of water. It burned all the way to the end, nice and even. It works. Murphius
can you just use the nitrocellulose lacquer spray that comes in a aerosol can that you can pick up from music stores? the same gloss finish they use to coat guitars.
