Hi!

Because i didnt like slow procedure of making stars, i decided to build star plate from scratch. I bought 2 alu plate 20x20x2,5cm and alu 13mm x 5m stick.

I cut the stick in pieces 42mm long, dril 110holes 13,2mm in diameter. I was driling bouth plates at same time.

It was lot of polishing time of every piece.

Material cost me 65 euros..and lots of hours! :-)

That is a pretty hefty surface area, what kind of press are you using?

Ill try with 10t press. If it is not gona work i will try then with 75t press.

How much you think i will need to prees that good?

I will use it end off the week.

I think you may need the big press for that, depending on whether or not you use a binder and which one you chose.

With enough force per star most comps will compact without a binder, if the force isn't enough then you will need a binder and a little water.

Don't use titanium flake or sponge or turnings in an alloy tool the tool will be damaged quickly.

Looks good, zan89. Lot of labor of love in that plate. :D

Good luck. The 10t might work. It will deliver a force on the lower end of what I generally see recommended, but you never know until you try.

If the 10 ton press, puts out a true 10 tons of force. You would get approximately 856psi on the comp. Which should be fine, I've pretty much standardized all of my star/comet pressing to 500psi on the comp.
