gregh
I have absolutely no use for this, but I hate to see something sit out here with no bids that you have so kindly offered up. So I am going to bid $10, and you can keep it roger.
rogeryermaw
that's very generous but you don't have to do that. if it doesn't sell, i was planning on donating its value when dag has the account set up for BB.
Bobosan
I never realized there were so many different types of columns. Looks like everybody had to have one named after themselves.

rogeryermaw
I never realized there were so many different types of columns. Looks like everybody had to have one named after themselves. there are a lot of condensing column styles but this one is for a more narrow specialty. this sort of column is for fractional distillation and is for more precise separation of miscible liquids with boiling points that are close enough to make their separation difficult. it can't break azeotropes but the slow, gradual temperature change along its length and the multiple condensation points help to return the higher boiling liquid to the still pot and pass the vapor of the lower boiling chemical to the water condenser. schroedinger
Also to add that a Vigreux column is able to process quite a huge ammount of liquid compared to other column types but still has a good seperation compared to a straight pipe type column. The colum offered here should be able to process about 510ml/h and have the equivalent of one distillation every 11.5 cm, thus giving you about two distillations in one run. Also it can be used for vacuum distillation.
