The Idea

I am always experimenting with miscellaneous things, testing new ideas, and just overall doing random things that are never documented, recorded in any way, or sometimes not pictured or video taped at all. The results are usually stored in my head for further use. After being inspired after looking through Swedes work, I decided I would make me up a random experiments "blog". I suppose I can use this as a type of documenting what I've done or will be doing.

I really hate the word "blog". Its just an ugly word. It sounds like something you would puke up. Just a little bit of info.

Right now the next thing it looks like I'll be doing and the first thing to be posted will be trying out a Ti, pressed rocket nozzle. Since the next best thing to end burner tooling I have is fountain, thats what I'll be using. I would rather hurt it than any other pieces of tooling I have. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and it wont mar my tooling. Results should be in within a few days. Its was 10F out Friday, I went camping, and by the end of the weekend its t-shirt weather outside. So its looking like a good day to go make something.

Yay, another blog! I feel like I was playing all alone in a sandbox.

Stupid question - how do you "press" Ti? Ti powder in a composite matrix or resin?

Well this Ti is unlike anything other Ti you might have seen. I will add a picture of it also. Its not hard, large pieces of shinny metal. Its more like the color of sponge Ti, that dark grey. Its about 1000 mesh but it is lumped into small chunks and you can pretty much just smash together, or screened to make it a finer powder. I pressed it just as if it were clay.

I can't wait to see if this thing flies or not - I think the biggest problem will be that not all the nozzle will burn, you'll be raining down tubes with a chunk of precious Ti in the end. I'm certain that at least some of it will burn up, though.

On a side note, your theme is severely broken for me - the text is cyan and there's no dark background, so it's unreadable unless I select it.

Tentacles,

If you read my new post, you will see that the motor will not be flying. It will be a static ground test for the same reason, raining down Ti filled tubes, burning nozzle or not. Plus I want to see how it does on erosion.

As far as the theme goes, I changed it to one of the red ones that is pre set. The one I made I left out some things in mind and it wasn't working out too well. That funny that your text is cyan :) Right now it should be black text on a white background with maroon and red border. I'm the first to have been playing with the custom themes says Sidewinder so its still all coming together.

New things will be posted tomorrow evening. Things like pics and a video. I have found the camera !!!
