Battery size

Hi

If now got all things together to make two DIY Wireless Firing systems.

There is just one part missing, the Battery.

The first one will be a single cue igniter.

The second one will be a 6x5 (6 Igniter per bench, 5 bench, 1 bench as fail safe).

Both are supposed to operate at 12V.

Now there is one question open, which capacity will the batteries need.

For the single cue one, i would be quite sure that a 12V 0.8 Ah would be enought, but for the second one, I`m not sure, will it need a bigger one, or is it maybe even better to use 10 AA batteries in a row?.

Any status LEDs will use much more power than firing a cue! Using an igniter the fire pulse is 500mA for 20 milliseconds! Just be very sure that your battery WILL deliver 500mA after the testing and waiting time. 12v SLA will need charging every few months regardless of use, 12v of dry cells may last longer but will cost more to replace than to recharge the SLA.

Are you firing ematches or home made igniters? How long do you want to go between recharges?

How much power do your radios and logic use? how long are you going to have the receivers powered up waiting before the show?
