Question about Whistle Mix ratios

Dave,

There's been an almost 'universal push' by all government agencies to eliminate perchlorates, because of the (incorrect) fear that exploding such materials might hurt the environment.

As-such, they're ALL trying to modify old formulae to eliminate them. The newer program isn't on-line, yet.

Yeah... adding nitrate is for the purpose of 'taming' the burn some.

Lloyd,

gallic acid used to be used with potassium chlorate, in the days gone by according to ellern, (as a "safer" mix :o )

are you saying that the salicylate and benzoate fuels will also whistle with pot chlorate and pot nitrate ?

I agree, the military's "concern" over perchlorates would seem a bit over stated, probably an environmental tick box excercise

I'm saying that salicylate will whistle with chlorate and nitrate... I've not tried it with the benzoate.
