There was a flashback segment on one of the PBS weekend quiz shows recently that used the periodic table to spell the answers or to decode them. I wish I'd bookmarked the broadcast because it was hilarious. Only half of the panel knew anything about the elements and the other half provided the humor.

As a gamer, I have also discovered a new compound:

NO2B, Noobium. The stuff that some gamers are made of :D

My Chemistry department was known for some rather "academic" members but the departmental parties were known for their punch -you didn't drink two glasses.

An oldie but (not so) goodie:

A man walks up to a bar and orders a glass of H2O. Another man sitting at the bar says I will have a glass of H2O too. He proceeds to clean the bar surface.

Of course, there's always dihydrogen monoxide.....

And oxygen dihydride, Kevin.

In fact, some time this winter and spring, I had over 65 million moles of oxygen dihydride I had carefully stored stolen from me!

Also...

I don't know WHERE we came up with it, but by the time I was 10, we school chums were chanting the "Little Willy was a Chemist" ditty, and we knew what the two formulae expressed were!

I have to say though, that I'm Curie-ous of how you came up with that!

Do you think chemical workers are unionized? ;)

I got another one:

A neutron walks into a bar. He asks the bartender, "How much for a beer?" The bartender offers him a warm smile and says, "For you, no charge".

Recently, a planned EVA mission from the ISS had to be postponed for a couple of days because the two male crew members who were scheduled to perform the mission were suffering from colds. A newspaper report was headlined “Men Delay E-V Activity”.

...and oxygen dihydride got on my fuses, and that was like a wet blanket

Dihydrogen Monoxide is pretty bad as well.
