NeighborJ
I had to laugh when I saw this meter. It is on display at the local VFD where my sons riffle team was hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. I am required to wear a four gas monitor at work but this thing seems to be an early cousin. dynomike1
It's just a gas sniffer isn't it?
NeighborJ
Yes, it is an LEL meter, the ones we use at work also test for H2S,CO and CO2.The terminology has changed,LEL stands for lower explosive limit and it refers to the minimum amount of combustible gas needed to achieve ignition. NeighborJ
I've been known to set off the alarms a few times when it was strapped to my belt. There's no use blaming the guy next to you, when your alarms are sounding and it's lit up like a Christmas tree. The most embarrassing part is that it needs to be reset at the office and any anomalys in the recorder needs to be accounted for.
