MODIFIED ENDBURNER TOOLING

Here is a diagram of my latest tooling I'm using for endburners...

 

It allows you to add just about any effect to a simple, slow rising, constant burn endburner.

The tooling I'm using is a cut off bp tooling set... so don't throw away those bent spindles you may have. :)

 

 

The nozzled whistle motors I have tried so far have worked better than I had expected. Actually too good... I'm trying to get a slower rising motor.

 

 

 

 

Due to the simplicity of an endburner, these are quite easy to make with very little tooling required. You could essentially make them with only the one ram shown in the diagram... just flip it over after the spindle to use as a flat drift (assuming you have the required height in your press).

 

I've got some more to try tonight, which i'm hoping I can get to almost hover... or rise at such a slow rate it appears that way.

Fun DDW Whistle with nozzle. Never tryed that! It's quite fast. How did you fuse the rocket? Quickmatch or just plain visco? The sound holds something inbetween whistle and IBP. Me like! :)

I used one strand from marcs perchlorate quickmatch, stuffed all the way up.

 

Here's a bp one with red AP color comp on the bottom. The nozzle keeps the AP and nitrate from coming into contact with each other. These should look nice at night. It also rose much slower, but not slow enough (yet).

I'am jealous on your test ground dude.Looking good. It would be fun to put dandalion/crackling in the red compo. It leaves a nice trail of popping flowers.

Slowest one I could get... I'll have to try some 60/30/10 screen mix next. Planning on using these on a girandola.

They are indeed fun, and very forgiving. They work great with my slowest propellant and my fastest propellant. Fool proof. :)

ddewees, did you incorporate a small taper on the spindle to facilitate motor removal? I made a small nozzleless coreburner tool with 0 taper, and I had a very difficult time removing the motor. It exploded when I lit it, and my thought is that the fuel grain was somehow disturbed by the spindle removal.

 

It will be interesting to study the effects of the exhaust gasses on the composition below the nozzle.

 

Long delay glitter like win20 might be cool!
